The children that had travelled with the ferry from Tallinn, arrived hungry and tired at Kappelskär north of Stockholm together with two teachers on Monday morning the 17 of June. With a long discussion with the Customs, the journey began to Finnbo Country Estate near Smedjebacken in Dalecarlia. The children was hungry so we had a quick stop to eat the packed breakfast. When it was time to go again the children got a small present. They made big eyes and carefully received the toy. They where so careful that the didn't even open the box that it came in.

When we came to Finnbo, the small Russian boy Jannis told one of the leaders - This has been the luckiest day in my life! - That says a lot of what kind of life this children have had.

After a few Name-Games all the children got their own Sport Bag with clothes, toilette articles, watch, calculator, candy among other things. It's difficult to describe the felling that we leaders experienced when we saw the joy and how overwhelmed the children became. Yes not only the children but also their teachers. Irena, the teacher, that seemed to be in control of her feelings, couldn't hold back the tears The bags with candy was soon opened but just to be shared with all us leaders. They even shared it among each other.

Especially the girls had a great need for contact an nearness. They took every moment they could get to hold hands and hug. Obviously it was more accepted for girls so it became even more moving when Matvej carefully sneaked his hand into Lars-Jacobs and with a admired looked at his new idol.

After a while, resting in the grass, the presents was carefully packed in their bags. Now footballs, friesbees, volleyballs, airplanes and kites where presented for the children and all played together Some of the boys was very talented and could be future football professionals as they easily fooled the leaders with their dribbles! Our first lunch contained Swedish pancakes with jam, cream, ice cream and strawberries. Everyone enjoyed that lunch! The rest of the afternoon was spent bathing and playing at the Hytt pond near the house. After the dinner it was time for a game of Baseball that ended just before bedtime, but of course, they had a quick swim before they jumped into bed.

According to Juris, one of their teachers, the bedroom was full of life when he went to the bathroom to brush his teeth. But a moment later, everyone had fallen into sleep, exhausted from all the expressions and activities the first day.
